As you begin putting together your fall calendar, keep in mind that there are great events here at Saint Ambrose for you. These events are in response to our survey conducted last spring regarding what you and your fellow
Ambrosians were interested in learning. I hope that you will make the time to participate in all or some of the classes, and that you will find your spiritual life deepened and enriched. These opportunities will also help you
get to know others in the church and to hear their stories and experiences. All education classes begin in September, but sign ups for classes start on August 23rd.
Here is some information on the classes offered this fall:
Sunday School: Grades preschool through 8th (During the 10:30a service)
TEACHERS STILL NEEDED!
This year we will continue to offer a great Sunday School program with excellent opportunities for each of the different classes. Beginning this year, the preschool and kindergarten class will include a Baptismal education component and the 4th & 5th grade class will include lessons on generosity, mission and justice. Middle school gatherings will return to during the service to better serve the needs of middle schoolers and their families. All Sunday School participants will also be learning some Bible verses and will gain points through out the school year to earn prizes at the end of the year. More information about this new part of the program will be available on the first Sunday of Sunday School.
High School Youth Group (Sunday, Noon-1p)
TEACHERS STILL NEEDED!
High schoolers will continue their discussions of their role in society and how faith can inform their choices.
Outings and gatherings with other Boulder youth will be a part of the program.
Confirmation Class (Sundays, 9:15-10:15a )
The Bishop will visit Saint Ambrose on January 10, 2010 and we will have confirmation, reception and reaffirmation during the service. Confirmation is the affirmation of faith and participation in the church, and is open to
any Baptized person, ages 16 or older. Reception is for anyone who was confirmed in another faith, but would like to be an Episcopalian. Reaffirmation is for those interested in learning more about the Episcopal faith, who have already been confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church, or those interested in committing anew to the promises of the faith. Classes begin September 20th and will meet on Sunday mornings as well as for a retreat.
This is a wonderful opportunity to grow in faith and have fun in the process!
Stewardship Classes (Sundays, 9:15-10:15a)
Ever wondered how to better budget your money and time? Or have you struggled with finding ways of discussing money with your children? Have you ever wondered how to better store and preserve foods (like making jam or homemade tomato sauce) from the summer to have over the winter? During the fall we’ll offer a variety of classes about stewardship as well as some hands on lessons and real life stories as we all work to better save, share and spend our money. See the Beehive for more information starting in September.
JustFaith – Please see Linda’s article for more information. Classes on Wednesday Night
Life, Faith and Tradition in The Episcopal Church (Wednesday evenings)
Many of you asked for a class where you could learn more about the traditions and history of the Episcopal Church, well this year we are bringing you a wonderful class to answer all of your questions, and probably bring up a few more! Starting in September the clergy will offer classes on different areas of The Episcopal Church.
(9/16-10/7 are overview classes, 10/14-12/16 Peter will teach on the practices of the church, 1/6 – 3/10 Linda will teach church history and from 3/17-5/12 Heather will teach theology and ethics.)
