St. Ambrose participated in the Louisville Labor Day Parade and was awarded first prize in the community float category. Thank you to the choir, who performed beautifully, all who decorated the float and walked or rode in the parade, and special thanks to Herb Wright who provided the trailer and pulled the float with his truck. This was a great community event.
St. Ambrose partnered with DD Pizza (a locally owned pizza restaurant) to sell pizza and soda and tell people in Louisville about St. Ambrose. The fundraising aspect of the booth did not meet expectations, but the community out reach aspect was very worthwhile. Special thanks to Jeff Gregorius, Heather Payton, and all who spent time in the booth over the 3-day weekend.
September 13th was the first day of fall Christian Education, including a confirmation class. Thank you to Diane Koepping, Heather Payton and all the teachers and students who are participating. On September 15th the vestry had a lively and productive discussion about the budget shortfall. On September 20th Father Peter explained the budget shortfall at both services and the response from the parish has been encouraging. The vestry has worked hard to spend money prudently and expenses are within (actually below) budget.
The Junior Warden and Sexton’s Guild have been contemplating the parking lot cracks and after a test repair on Sept. 27th will have a workday on October 3rd. The object is to repair the cracks so that the foundation of the lot is protected through the winter using the talents and labors of the parish. Working together is also a great way to build community, which is one of the reasons we are all here.
