Congratulations to the three newest members of our Vestry – Matt Gauch, Brad Hall, and Janice Thorpe – who were elected at our Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 24. The Vestry is our parish’s board of directors. Vestry members help us establish a vision for the church, and provide leadership in support of that vision. They also oversee the finances of the church. Paul Austin has agreed to be the new Senior Warden, Randy Hickernell continues to serve as Junior Warden, Tucker Nunn continues to serve as our facilitator, and Julie Boyd continues to serve as the Vestry Clerk. Others who continue to serve on the Vestry are Mary Cartwright, Holly McElhaney, John Taylor, and Herb Wright. Kris Bertness will serve as the Treasurer for the first half of the year, and then Millie Williams will become the Treasurer beginning in July. My thanks to all of these people for their faithfulness to God and to our parish. My thanks to Jeff Gregorius, Millie Williams, and Jim Ziegler, who recently finished serving three year terms on the Vestry. Jeff has served as both Junior Warden and Senior Warden during that time. Jeff, Millie, and Jim – thanks for all your hard work and for your dedication and faithfulness to St. Ambrose!
The new Vestry attended an orientation session on Tuesday, January 26, and learned about our consensus process model, which we have been using for the past several years as the means by which we conduct our monthly meetings. Your Vestry always meets on the third Tuesday of the month. We begin our meetings with Eucharist around the altar at 6:30 pm, and then hold the remainder of the meeting in the 4/5 classroom. Vestry meetings are open and anyone is welcome to attend. If you have a concern, a question, or a suggestion for the good of our community, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of the Vestry or to any of our clergy.
At our February meeting, we will spend some time discussing and deciding upon the main goals for St. Ambrose in 2010. Thank you for holding the Vestry and the staff of St. Ambrose in your prayers!
