The Diocese of Colorado Responds to Haiti
In a letter to the clergy of the Diocese of Colorado, Bishop O’Neill recently reported that $510,216.00 was raised in the appeal for funds to meet immediate and basic needs of the people of Haiti. This amount includes the $75.000.00 matching grant from the Anschutz Foundation. The funds will be divided equally between the Colorado Haiti Project and Episcopal Relief and Development’s support of Bishop Duracin, who is ministering to his homeless and destitute flock. The Colorado Haiti Project will use their funds to support the people of Petit Troupe where they have a very successful mission. While the immediate and basic needs of food, water, shelter, and sanitation must continue to be met, it is vital that towns and areas, including the Dominican Republic, are supported to meet the increased demands of people moving to villages to escape the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the capital. You wonderfully generous people of St. Ambrose have donated $4095.00, which is about 1% of the total diocesan effort. Thank you for your incredible response.
