Dear fellow Ambrosians,
There is a light ship named AMBROSE berthed in the East River in New York City. Seeing this reminded me of the importance of the saints who have lived in the past, and the saints who serve in faith communities, like our own St. Ambrose. How we live our faith at St. Ambrose and in our everyday lives has meaning to the people around us.
One person who is a great gift in the life of St. Ambrose is our deacon, Linda Vosburgh. Linda is a clergy person who has gone through rigorous training and serves at both services each Sunday, leads a Wednesday night class, leads the outreach committee, chairs the Garden Guild, attends staff meetings and serves as the St. Ambrose liaison with Sister Carmen Center, Habitat for Humanity, and other community organizations. Linda does all this as an unpaid volunteer. When you see Linda, please thank Linda for her volunteer work.
At the April vestry meeting we discussed Linda’s role and agreed that her work deserves compensation. Since we still have a deficit budget, the vestry also agreed that we cannot add an honorarium for Linda to the budget at this time. Pledge income is somewhat behind based on our budget, compared to previous years. On behalf of the vestry, I encourage everyone to keep current with pledges so that we can continue the work of the parish.
Happy Easter to everyone! Enjoy the wonderful wet spring we have had so far. Randy Hickernell
