Hey youth group! Add your comments and thoughts here. This is for you to share what’s happening.
Hi everyone,
This Friday, Dec. 9, we will have our youth scavenger hunt for our holiday food baskets. We can meet at 6:30 at King Soopers. I can write clues to the items we need, and depending on how many come we can have teams of three.
I would like to have at least 2 more adults to be at King Soopers; would anyone be interested? If we collect enough boxes to send to Sister Carmen Center, I can send an email to Kristy for the parish asking for volunteers to help us with delivery.
After we collect all the items, we can return to the fellowship hall and sort them out. Also, instead of buying a turkey/ham maybe we can get a gift card for this.
On a side note, would any of our youth be interested in being a part of the parish’s Christmas Caroling? Also Toni Brennand would love to have our youth be part of the no rehearsal Christmas pageant; please shoot her an email if you would like to be part of it!
Please let me know if you all have any questions!
Thank you,
Lisa
For a kick-off event, the youth team and I organized a game night in November. It was a fun-
filled night with relay races, flashlight tag, and other competitions. Not only did the kids have
fun, but the adults, including myself, did too. This night our youth met and had fun with other
youth in the same church community, and they continued to do so at our second event in
December. Our youth participated in a food basket scavenger hunt; they searched for items at
the grocery store to fill a basket with a complete holiday meal. They made five baskets in total,
which were later given to the Sister Carmen Center in Lafayette, Colorado. The kids had a great
time, and our program would like to do this again for Easter.
I look forward to expanding our youth events in the New Year. Our first youth group meeting
was the first week of January, and our youth group has and will continue to meet two Friday
evenings every month. My goal for these meetings is to focus on their relationship with God and
how they are able to see God in their lives. I believe this is important for our youth, and youth
meetings emphasize activities that will help them to grow in their faith. For these meetings and
other events, I aim for them to be both educational and fun.
In the New Year, I further expect our youth to participate in a hunger awareness event, known
as the 30hr-Famine, and a mission trip to the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming. I hope
for our youth to grow in these events spiritually and culturally. The 30hr-Famine will include
neighboring episcopal youth groups, and our youth will engage in community service, meet
others in the church community, and learn about global hunger and poverty. Our mission trip is
to an American Indian Reservation, and our youth will work on community work projects, learn
the local culture, and participate in various crafts and activities. For our youth program, I expect
it to grow further, and I am committed to achieve the set out goals.
